While Windows 10 has been out for a few months there are still many of us who haven’t taken advantage of the free upgrade. If you’re still unsure if you should upgrade to Windows 10 here are a few facts about some of the new features that might help you make your decision.
One of the best new features of Windows 10 is an old favorite, the start menu. Windows 10 brings back the much loved start menu that we lost when windows 8 was released. The new start menu blends the old with the new by combining the familiar list view of your files, apps, and shortcuts on the left side of the menu and the live tiles of windows 8 on the right. You can also customize the start menu by changing the menu color, adding, removing, or resizing your live tiles, or even changing the size of the menu itself.
As one of the headline features of Windows 10, Cortana is the personal voice assistant that is said to be one part Siri, one part Google Now, and one of the best reasons to upgrade your PC. While Cortana has been used on the Windows Phone 8.1 this is the first time the personal assistant has been used on a PC. Cortana is an amazing tool that’s available right on your desktop and can help you find anything you’re searching for both online and on your computer using text or voice commands. Cortana can also play music, compose an email, set alarms, create reminders, and even crack jokes.
If you’re a hard core gamer or just someone who loves video games than you’ll love the new Xbox app on Window 10’s. Even if you don’t have an Xbox One, you don’t need one to use the app to play games from the store. This new app lets you use the game DVR to record game play and take screenshots of your game. Once you’re done you can put together all your game clips to create an amazing video that you can share with your friends and fellow gamers so they can see you in your moment of glory. You can also play multiplayers games, connect with other gamers across Xbox One and Window’s 10 devices, and stream Xbox games directly to your PC.
These are just a few examples of the countless new features that Windows 10 has to offer and many of these new features can help you both personally and professionally. However, if you still want to wait before switching to Windows 10 just remember that you have until July 29, 2016 to get a free full version of windows 10.
