Google seems to be changing or adding a new feature, program, or app every day. So we thought it would be good to check in on the state of Google and talk about the most recent developments from the land of Silicone Valley.
Google Hire, ever heard of it? Probably not, and that's because it's a brand new program released by Google just a couple months ago. Google Hire is a modern day applicant tracking system, or recruiting app. Because Google is Google and the entire G Suite lives under one login, Hire will synch with Gmail and Google Calendar so that all communications or appointments with potential employees are immediately organized and scheduled without ever having to leave whichever Google App you are on. Google Hire can also be accessed by your entire team so that each member can see whatever information that they would need to reach a decision on whether they think a particular candidate would be a good fit for the company. This allows for easy collaborative hiring efforts. You can also use Hire to search through previous applicants as if it were a Google search. Say you're looking for a Copywriter with Graphic Design experience, simply type in Copywriter and Graphic Design and Hire will automatically search through past applicants and only show you the ones who meet those criteria. This is a pretty neat development in the recruiting field and could increase the efficiency of your hiring process.
Google AdMob, another Google service that you may not have heard of, but definitely one that you have encountered. AdMob is Google's mobile advertising platform specifically designed for mobile apps. If you've ever used an app that was free, and supported by ad revenue, chances are that they were using AdMob. AdMob is the number one app monetization program in the world, being used by companies like SEGA, Fingersoft, Etermax, Rovio and more! It gives you the ability to have native ads that don't interrupt the user experience of your app, and even rewarded videos that can enhance the user experience. These rewarded video ads come in the form of the user choosing to voluntarily watch a video advertisement for an in game reward, such as in game currency or unlocking a new feature. You also get unlimited access to mobile app analytics so that you can optimize you advertising and app promotion.
Beyond standalone apps from the G Suite, there are some things you may not know that you can do with your verified Google Business Account. For example did you know that you can add your Google+ feed to your listing? This does numerous things; firstly it takes up more real estate on the Google search page, giving your brand a more dominant presence and creating a sense of importance, legitimacy, and value. Secondly it lets your potential customers know what you're up to and allows them to connect with the brand straight from the search page, without even having to go to a single social media platform. Once you add your Google+ feed to your normal suite of business info, your listing can easily take up the entire length of the Google search results page.
Google is one of the most innovative and powerful companies in the world, because of this they are always adding new features and changing old ones. It is important that you and your team stay on top of the latest updates so that you don't miss an opportunity for you or your clients to make advancements in the digital space.
